As part of a special event for the FBT 2008 Thailand BJJ / Submission Grappling Open tournament in Bamgkok, Thailand on September 27-28, MMA fights were on the card. Team MMA Thailand put two fighters on the card as Ngoo and Mike Hutchison led the event. It was an exciting event as Ngoo took center stage and all the Thai people saw what a skilled Muay Thai fighter with BJJ and submission grappling skills can do in MMA. Ngoo went 3-rounds with his foreign opponent, Xavier, fighting out of Pattaya. Ngoo looked great as he combined Muay Thai striking with submission attempts, grappling, and Muay Thai striking. In the 2nd round the large Thai crowd at the Futuremart Mall began to chant “Ngoo, Ngoo, Ngoo,” which spurred him on as landed a head kick and several knees to the body hurting his opponent. In the end, Ngoo won his first MMA fight.
Mike Hutchison looked good early scoring some Muay Thai leg strikes and holding his opponent in guard preventing any ground-n-pound. But late in the 2nd, Mike got caught with a hard combo causing the referee to stop the fight. This was a great way to introduce MMA to the large Thai crowd at the mall and show what an important part Muay Thai is for striking in MMA
