Saving Tuptim @TigerMuayThai

Added: Wednesday, September 14th, 2011
Last December of 2010, a fundraiser called ‘Save Tuptim’ was initiated to cover the costs of Baby Tuptim’s liver transplant.
In January 2011, Baby Tuptim and her mother went through a successful operation thanks to the efforts of the Tuptimeteers and the generosity of Dana White, the President of UFC who covered all the surgery costs. The surgeon, Dr. Sumate Teeraratkul of the Ramathibodi Hospital is one of the few surgeons in the world that is able to do this pioneering type of surgery called parental donor liver transplant.
However, the fight is not over yet. The fundraiser is still on-going to make it possible for Tuptim’s parents to pay for the expensive immunosuppressant drugs that Tuptim will need to be on for many years to come. The fundraising is also being continued due to Baby Tuptim’s having to make a monthly visit from Phuket to The Rama Hospital in Bangkok for medical tests. Its foundation will administer the trust fund.
A Press Conference will be held at Tiger Muay Thai on September 2, 2011. The presentation will be carried out by Lotus Medical International and Tiger Muay Thai regarding the transfer.
A cheque for the remaining funds of around 300,000 Thai Baht will be transferred to The Rama Hospital Foundation who will manage the remaining funds for TupTim. Dr. Suporn Treepongkaruna from The Rama Hospital has been instrumental in looking after the funds since the start of the fundraising and will continue to do so.
The Save Tuptim Campaign is still accepting donation. Contributions can be directed to The Ramathibodi Foundation
